LICAGE 2010 Pisa, Italy 23-24 September 2010
The next meeting of the Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe will take place in the Opera Primaziale Museum in Pisa, Tuscany, a few metres from the magnificent Leaning Tower (Torre Pendente), organised by Gianni Biancofiore and John Klinck. There is a distinguished international faculty. This will be a small, friendly meeting with a scientific program of exceptional quality. The meeting is now fully subscribed. A waiting list has been created in the event of cancelled registrations.

Clinical updates A new section edited by Susan Mandell (University of Colorado) features concise, state-of-the-art CME reviews on clinical topics. The first reviews have now been posted: Michael Ramsay on Portopulmonary Hypertension, Michael Krowka on Hepatopulmonary Syndrome, Florence Wong on Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy, Catherine Paugam-Burtz on Hepatorenal Syndrome and Susan Mallett on Coagulopathy in Liver Disease.
Journal Club - a new monthly feature
Edited by Jim Findlay (Mayo Rochester), Journal Club surveys all key journals in liver transplantation, anesthesiology, critical care, hepatology and general medicine, selecting at least one per month for critical comment. Read Fuat Saner's review of the recent paper ADP-dependent platelet function prior to and in the early course of pediatric liver transplantation and persisting thrombocytopenia are positively correlated with ischemia/reperfusion injury. About this site: This forum is a non-profit educational resource for specialists and trainees in anaesthesia and critical care involved in the management of liver transplant patients. It provides updates on publications in this field, expert commentary, access to relevant national reports and guidelines and information on meetings and training opportunities worldwide. It is administered by clinicians affiliated with the Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE) and the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS). We wish to respond to the needs of frontline physicians and healthcare providers, especially those working in smaller programs and in developing health systems.
